About

I create sculptures and artefacts like shifting forms and spontaneous outgrowths. Made from everyday scraps and detritus these ephemeral objects evolve in unexpected ways to become secret dens or ruined inter-zones, intrepid outposts from some cosmic fastness of childhood playtime. Each prop-like work coalesces, reforms or dissolves into constituent wreckage. By reworking historical motifs and symbols as sites of psychic exploration these assemblages present a strange new world in which the audience is encouraged to invest.

An ongoing theme is the abandoned vessel or vehicle often lying buried and half-forgotten in some subterranean or domestic setting, awaiting fresh occupants for possible journeys beyond the confines of the gallery. From statues to spaceships each with their embellished, encrusted surfaces these lumpen forms act as tools or guides for a future expedition into some distant yet familiar realm.
